Nature restores mental functioning in the same way that food and water restore bodies. The business of everyday life — dodging traffic, making decisions and judgement calls — is depleting, and what man-made environments take away from us, nature gives back.

Nature: beach, sea, trees, flowers, forests, streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans demand very little from us, though they’re still engaging, ever-changing, and attention-grabbing. The difference between natural and urban landscapes is how they command our attention. While man-made landscapes bombard us with stimulation, their natural counterparts give us the chance to think as much or as little as we’d like, and the opportunity to replenish exhausted mental resources.

The body has an important purpose in the body, mind and soul equation. The body was created as a vehicle for the soul to achieve growth and enlightenment in the physical world. Every-body’s purpose is different, therefore each body is designed to fulfil a specific purpose. We have different genetic traits, environmental influences and physical inclinations that together make our bodies and our physical experiences unique. If our bodies are not functioning properly, it is a sign that there is disharmony in our body, mind and soul.
